Each year the Blossomland Amateur Radio Association (BARA) participates in the annual ARRL Field Day contest.  This objective of this contest is to talk to as many stations as possible on any and all amateur bands and in doing so to learn to operate in abnormal situations in less than optimal conditions.

Field Day 2007 proved to be another beautiful weekend!  With temperatures in the mid 80's, we had a picture perfect weekend for ham radio!  49 people signed our guest book, including 10 between the ages of 10 and 18!  We also had the greatest number of female participants (15 signed in).

The following agency representatives we among those that signed in:  Berrien County Sheriff Paul Bailey, Berrien County Emergency Coordinator Tom Dumminger (KC8MGD), Berrien County Emergency Management Chris Cortiville, and Berrien County American Red Cross Exec. Director, Angie LaVanway.

Lila Chandler, Herald Palladium Correspondent, also visited and wrote a wonderful article about Field Day in Berrien County.  Click here to read the article.
